Partner Jenny Afia spoke to leading legal publication, The Lawyer about Schillings' litigation work, and what it's like 'in the emergency room with the A-Listers'. She discussed the issue of trust, the swing of media law, and Schillings' unique mutidisciplinary approach.
'Afia says: “It used to be that obtaining an injunction would be the end of it – but now obtaining an injunction is only the start.” The firm’s legal practice is now accompanied with an investigations practice that has helped the firm establish a crisis management service for its clients. Afia cites the Johnny Depp case in February 2020 as a prime example of why the firms’ investigations arm gives the practice an edge. The case was heard in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and allowed only four people from Depp’s legal team to appear in the court room. Schillings decided that Afia, alongside two barristers, would be accompanied by an investigations colleague from Schillings, as opposed to another member of the legal team, as that colleague had background that would support Depp’s case.'
