Schillings Promote Three New Partners
31 May 2019
Reputation and privacy firm, Schillings, has strengthened its international crisis and problem solving business with the promotion of three new partners.
The internal promotion of Juliet Young, Gillian Duffy and Ben Hobbs adds a leading investigator, defamation experts and litigation specialists to the partnership at a time when the firm is increasing its focus on its core offering – an award winning international law firm specialising in protecting privacy, security and defending reputations.
Juliet Young*, previously the Head of Investigations at Schillings, Juliet draws on over 15 years’ experience in the corporate investigations and intelligence field to help clients solve reputation and privacy problems. A seasoned investigator, Juliet knows where to look for information across multiple jurisdictions that may be of interest to journalists and third party detractors, and how it may be used. She also helps design strategies for dealing with reputation problems, both identifying areas of reputational risk as well as proactively gathering information that may undermine an assertion by a third party. Juliet will lead an intelligence and investigations team and develop the practice in her role as Partner.
Gillian Duffy**, previously a Legal Director at Schillings, Gillian’s expertise in commercial litigation sees her deal with complex and multi-jurisdictional disputes. Having practised as an Advocate, Gillian is able to bring her front line litigation skills to bear as a reputation defence lawyer. While her primary objective is to prevent a client ending up in litigation, sometimes it is necessary and unavoidable. In these instances Gillian specialises in identifying potential reputation threats and putting in place counter measures to mitigate the risks to a client’s reputation. She is ranked in the Citywealth Leaders List.
Ben Hobbs*** having started with the Firm as a trainee in 2008, Ben joins the Schillings partnership to specialise in reputation and privacy protection. He has acted in a number of cases which have shaped the law in these areas. His work also covers harassment, data protection and intellectual property rights. He regularly acts on behalf of various high profile and high-net worth individuals and corporate brands on a pre and post publication basis and is highly regarded for his diligence and dogged determination in achieving positive results for clients. Ben has been ranked as a 'rising star' in the Spear's 500 index.
“Our Emerging Leaders Development programme and our Partnership Assessment programme are both designed, in different degrees, to develop the skills needed to play a senior role in the management and leadership of Schillings. As proven and talented problem solvers with extensive crisis experience, the appointment of Juliet, Gillian and Ben to the partnership will ensure that we continue to equip our clients to deal with the reputation and privacy threats of today, as well as the issues and crises of tomorrow”, comments Keith Schilling, Founder and Chairman at Schillings. ‘‘Watching the assessment process take place I have been inspired by the incredible talent we have in the business.”

*Juliet Young comments: “It is invaluable for intelligence and investigations practitioners to be able to work directly alongside lawyers. It not only shortens the time to resolve a problem but helps both disciplines to explore more creative solutions. Schillings has always been at the forefront of innovation in the legal sector and I’m thrilled to be joining the partnership.”
**Gillian Duffy comments: “The combination of my offshore commercial litigation background and reputation and privacy protection experience has provided me with an in depth knowledge and understanding of how financial reputation and privacy issues may effect clients and how they may mitigate or deal with this particular threat.”
***Ben Hobbs comments: “Threats to reputation and privacy have evolved significantly since I joined Schillings in 2008. We too have evolved and are the only business in the world protecting reputation and privacy using legal, intelligence, cyber security and risk consulting expertise. I am delighted to join the partnership and look forward to continuing to help clients address reputation and privacy threats and proactively protect themselves.”
We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy their private life and reputation, free from arbitrary attacks or interference.
