Grasping the Nettle

For a child, grasping the nettle is a bad idea… but for a CEO, that’s exactly what they need to do
In a recent study with analysts and investors, Schillings was able to bring some light to a question that has been troubling business leaders for years: how is the management of reputation factored into the way companies are valued?
The investment community were clear that they do not like being kept in the dark. They accept that in any business there is always the potential for reputation damage but if they feel the management team is not being transparent, they will take a very dim view. They were clear that CEOs should speak up before being asked.
Warren East, the new CEO of Rolls Royce has done exactly that, on his second day. He’s been open, dealt with the issues and can now focus on the long term prospects.
