Schillings expands capability in asset tracing with appointment of Phoebe Waters

Asset tracing expert Phoebe Waters joins Schillings today as an Associate in the Intelligence and Investigations team.

Phoebe joins Schillings from Burford Capital’s Asset Recovery team where she specialised in complex international investigations – particularly around the enforcement of high-value awards against sovereign states. Prior to this Phoebe worked at Goldman Sachs in the Office of Global Security, focused on identifying threats to the business.

A Law graduate with a BA in Russian and an MA in International Security and Terrorism, Phoebe has also held intelligence roles at risk advisory firms KCS Group and AKE. In addition, she is Membership Secretary of the Female Fraud Forum, an association which supports the advancement of women working on diverse aspects of financial regulation and civil and criminal fraud.

Commenting on the hire, Juliet Young, Partner at Schillings, commented:

“I’m delighted to welcome Phoebe at this exciting time of expansion for Schillings’ Intelligence and Investigations team. Her experience to date in the field of asset tracing and litigation support is undeniably impressive and will give us an even stronger edge in this area”.

Lily Kennett, Partner at Schillings, commented:

“Phoebe stands out in the sector for her track record, qualifications, and deep expertise in her field. Asset identification is a crucial component of litigation support and has always been part of our work here at Schillings. Phoebe’s arrival will undoubtedly help us drive the practice on to new heights.”

Of her move to Schillings, Phoebe Waters added:

“I am hugely excited to be joining Schillings, a firm that is renowned for its innovation, excellence, and rigour. They break the mould on what litigation support can mean, and I look forward to bringing my expertise in complex international investigations and asset tracing to bear alongside such a talented group of people”.

Phoebe’s appointment marks further growth in Schillings’ Intelligence and Investigations team, following the appointment last summer of Alan Kennedy as Senior Associate. Alan joined Schillings from Nardello & Co where he was an Associate Managing Director based in London, heading up the Russia & Former Soviet Union litigation support practice. Prior to this he held roles at Kroll and boutique investigations practice GPW. He has extensive knowledge in Latin America, Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the former Yugoslavia. He brings to the team extensive experience in litigation support, asset tracing and political risk analysis, as well as proficiency in seven languages.
